United States. Work Projects Administration. Kentucky. Recreation Project.
Sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education, the goal of the Recreation Project was to provide a year-round program of activities for young people and adults, including arts and crafts, music, festivals, plays, baseball, football, tennis, shuffleboard, hockey, nature study, hiking, camping, and dancing. Special recreational services were provided for hospitals and detention homes. There were over two hundred recreation centers in Kentucky, located mainly in rural areas.
