Surveyors; Fritz Contzen accompanied Emory's boundary survey group to Arizona in 1854. His son Philip, also a surveyor, worked for the U.S. General Land Office, and as City Engineer and Pima County Surveyor. Philip's son, Frederick, was a surveyor for the U.S. Geological Survey, Soil Conservation Service and the National Parks Service.
