Kane, John J., -1961
Variant namesJohn J. Kane (d. Mar. 6, 1961, New Brighton, Pa.) was a Democratic politician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a delegate to several Democratic National Conventions from 1940 to 1964. He was a candidate for U.S. representative from Pennsylvania for the 31st district in 1948. He was an early backer of Harry Truman for vice president in 1944. During his career he served as an Allegheny County Commissioner and a Pittsburgh City Councilman, and served a brief term in the Pennsylvania State Legislature. He was president of Local 9 of the Newspaper Pressmen's Union, American Federation of Labor, from 1928 until 1957.
