Charles J. Boppell was born on April 2, 1871 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died on July 1, 1960 in Seattle, Washington. According to the citation given with his honorary degree from Whitworth College, he has been "a faithful minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ." He was known as a strong Biblical preacher who inspired young people to enter church vocations. He was a strong supporter of Christian education and especially of the program of Whitworth College. His Bible Month Mastery plan was known worldwide. His ministry began in Africa as a missionary and moved across the United States to the Pacific northwest and finally to West Side Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Washington.
