Born 1894. Ordained a Lutheran minister in 1920. Served with the rank of Private as an infantryman overseas, 1918-1919. Achieved the rank of Captain in the Chaplain Reserves, 1930-1937. Served with the rank of Captain as Regimental Chaplain of the 218th Field Artillery of the Oregon National Guard, 1937-1940. Served with the rank of Captain and Major as a chaplain in the U.S. Army at/in Fort Lewis, Wash., Australia, New Guinea, Biak Island, Fort Crook, Neb. and Fort Riley, Kan. with the 218th Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Infantry Division, 163rd Infantry and the American Graves Registration Service, 1940-1945. Served as a Lutheran pastor in Montana, California, Oregon and Washington when not serving as a military chaplain, 1924-1955.
