This research and development organization held groundbreaking ceremonies at Parr, S.C., on 7 Oct. 1960, marking the beginning of construction of the consortium's 17,000 kilowatt Parr Nuclear Station.
Carolinas-Virginia Nuclear Power Associates, Inc., was formed 5 Oct. 1956 by the unificaiton of several regional utilities (Duke Power, Carolina Power & Light Company, Virginia Electric & Power Company, and South Carolina Electric & Gas Company).
