Lloyd Joseph Graybar (Nov. 29, 1937-Nov. 9, 2000) received his A.B. degree from Middlebury College, and went on to earn M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at Columbia University. He became a Professor of History at Eastern Kentucky University, where he joined the faculty in 1966. While researching the Bikini atomic tests of 1946 for a proposed book on the subject, Professor Graybar interviewed and corresponded with many veterans of the tests. His article, "The 1946 Atomic Bomb Tests: Atomic Diplomacy or Bureaucratic Infighting?" was published in the Journal of American History in March 1986.

Lloyd J. Graybar attended Middlebury College, and later earned his M.A. and Ph. D. at Columbia University. He jointed Eastern Kentucky University in 1966 as Professor of History, authoring a biography of Albert Shaw, Albert Shaw of the Review of Reviews, An Intellectual Biography, and a number of articles on military history. Graybar retired from Eastern Kentucky University in 2000.
