Mildred E. Olson, a 1947 graduate of the medical technology program at the University of Minnesota, joined the University of Minnesota Hospitals as a laboratory technologist that same year in the research division of the physical medicine program, later renamed the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
In 1967, she was named Minnesota's outstanding medical technologist by the American Society of Medical Technology and in 1979 she received certification as a clinical laboratory scientist by the National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel. She is listed in the 1979 edition of Who's Who of American Women.
Mildred Olson retired from the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1981 as an associate scientist.
