Ellsworth Trans-Antarctic Flight Expedition (1933-1934)

This was the first Antarctic expedition led by Lincoln Ellsworth. The party sailed from New Zealand on Dec. 10, 1933 aboard the WYATT EARP, but was detained by ice near the Ross Sea until mid-January, forcing postponment of the rest of the journey.
