Louise W. Knight worked as a journalist, fundraiser, and consultant. She is also the author of Citizen: Jane Addams and the Struggle for Democracy (2005) and Jane Addams: Spirit in Action (2010). While an undergraduate at Wesleyan University, she became friends with Sheila Tobias, then associate provost at Wesleyan who became known for her work on anxiety in learning as it relates to male and female students.
