Variant namesPhysician; born in Bloomfield, New Jersey; was graduated from Yale Colle, 1825, and from Rutgers Medical College, New York City, 1829; practiced medicine in Newark, New Jersey, and ca. 1832 became first homeopathic practitioner in the state; married Mary Rankin, daughter of Newark resident William Rankin; moved to Albany, 1841; returned (in ill health) to Newark area, 1850; taught at Homeopathic Medical College of Philadelphia, 1853-1857 and 1859-1861, and subsequently at New York Homeopathic College and at a medical college for women, both located in New York City; lived in retirement near Newark.
