Fysh, Amelia

Amelia Fysh was brought up in Grimsby. She worked for the Royal Signal Corps during the War and then trained as an emergency teacher, 1945-1947. Following a period teaching at Strand Primary Infants, Grimsby, she undertook further teacher training at Risley Training College, 1947-1948, becoming a qualified teacher in 1948. She then ran nursery classes at Macaulay Infants School, 1948-1950 and South Parade Infants School, 1950-1955. Following a Child Development Course at the Institute of Education in 1954-1955, she became Headmistress of Beech Green Nursery School, Aylesbury from 1956-1973. Following her retirement, she became a Lecturer at Margaret Macmillan College, 1973-1974.
