Blackford Condit was born in Vincennes, Ind. He attended Wabash College and Lane Theological Seminary. After spending an unknown amount of time at Union Theological Seminary in New York, he returned to Terre Haute Ind. and served as pastor of Second Presbyterian Church (formerly Baldwin Church) from 1868 to 1875, when he retired due to ill health. In 1862 he married Sarah Mills, the daughter of Caleb Mills, a professor at Wabash College. Condit was still living in 1890.
