Born at Carthage, Missouri, Dr. Henry Clyde Hubbart, was educated at the University of Chicago receiving an A.B. in 1905 and a Ph. D. in 1917. He received full professorship at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1920 and became chairman of the History Department in 1934.

He collaborated in the authorship of a social science textbookcalled "Gateway to the Social Sciences" (1926) and wrote two books by himself; "The Older Middle West, 1840-1880" (1936) and "Ohio Wesleyan's First Hundred Years" (1943).

He retired in 1952 and died September 18, 1960.
