Robert G. Busse attended the University of Newark (Rutgers University), graduating in 1938 with a degree in accounting and business administration. He was hired as a salesman for Burroughs Adding Machine Company New York division in 1938. He transferred to the Bridgeport, Connecticut staff in 1945 and was appointed as zone supervisor of the Boston branch in 1948. He became manager of the Kalamazoo, Michigan branch in 1949, and in 1952, manager of the Wilmington, Delaware branch. In 1955, Burroughs instituted a new department for cash registers at their Detroit headquarters, appointing Busse as manager.
Later, Busse transferred to Burroughs’ Indianapolis branch to become district sales manager and went back to the home office in Detroit as financial branch manager in 1968. Busse retired from Burroughs sometime in the 1970s.
