Legard, Eva, 1924-2005,
Eva Legard was born in Lafayette, La., on December 31, 1924, and moved to Baton Rouge in 1938. She graduated from McKinley High School and worked at the registrar's office at Southern University. Legard was the first African-American female president of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and president of the board of the Baton Rouge Council on Human Relations. She received the latter's Powell-Reznikoff Humanitarian Award in 1986. She died in Baton Rouge on May 7, 2005.
