Russell, George Briggs.

George Briggs Russell was stationed at San Carlos Indian Reservation as a captain in the 9th U.S. Infantry. He was later promoted to major of the 5th U.S. Infantry and named Commandant of Mt. Vernon Barracks, Alabama. As a result, he dealt with the Apache of both, San Carlos and Mt. Vernon Barracks. The San Carlos photographs were taken by D. A. Markey and Baker and Johnson of Evanston, Wyoming.
