Born April 9, 1947, Ireland.; Anne Boylan was born on April 9, 1947, in Ireland, to Mr. and Mrs. John F. Boylan. She attended Immaculata High School from 1960 to 1964 and graduated fifth in her class. She enrolled at Mundelein College in September 1964, where she organized the SpeakEasy speaker series. She also participated in and chaired the Academic Affairs Committee, worked in the Deans Office, and served as a Big Sister to prospective and incoming students. Anne majored in history and received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Mundelein in 1968. She went on to complete a M.A. 1970 and Ph.D. 1973 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since 1985, Anne has been in the history department at the University of Delaware. She holds a joint appointment with the womens studies department. Anne is the author of numerous articles and book chapters. Her two major publications are The Origins of Women's Activism, New York and Boston, 1797 to 1840 and Sunday School The Formation of an American Institution, 1790 to1880. Her current research interests include womens rights in American history and the womens history programs broadcast by the DuPont Cavalcade of America radio program.
