Artist and educator, of Litchfield, Conn.; daughter of Dr. William Deming and Mary Benton Deming; great-grandfather was wealthy merchant Julius Deming who served in the American Revolution. IN addition to her art, Deming was involved in the issues of the day and in local affairs. She was president of the Litchfield Equal Franchise League, an early president of the Women's Forum, and member of the town's board of education.
