This association, organized in 1923 under the name of Pittsburgh Conference of Jewish Women's Organizations, became the Federation of Jewish Women's Organizations May 1955 - May 1959. In May 1959 the association resumed its original name. The Conference of Jewish Women's Organizations brought together the organized women's groups of the Jewish community of Pittsburgh in a spirit of fellowship. By deliberate and friendly cooperation, it endeavored to promote the mutual interests of affiliate groups and to heighten their service to their communities. The members of the Conference consisted of organizations of Jewish women whose objects and activities were of a religious, philanthropic, educational or civil character.
