David Osborne, Sr., was born on March 31, 1807, in Greenbrier County, Virginia. He married Cyntha Butler in 1826, and they were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1835. The Osbornes moved to Missouri in the 1830s and, after losing their home to mob violence, stayed briefly in Caldwell County before settling in Iowa until 1840. They then returned with the Mormons the Illinois, settling near Nauvoo in 1842. They moved back to Missouri in the mid-1840s, and in 1852 began traveling overland toward Utah. Cyntha died in childbirth near the Platte River. David Osborne arrived in Salt Lake City in September 1852. He married Danish immigrant Lena Larsen (b.1806) in 1857. The Osbornes helped settle Cache County in 1860. David Osborne died on June 12, 1893.
