Illinois. Schuyler County.
The Justice of the Peace of Schuyler County in the last half of the nineteenth century presided over cases that mostly involved settlement of debts or sale of livestock with an occasional theft or assault and battery. Wakeman Thomas was the presiding justice until 1869 and then Hermann C. Schultz heard the cases through 1878. George W. Campbell was the J.P. of record from 1884-1889 and then Henry M. Ward until 1899.
