Howard Evans, a native of Lebanon, Ky., was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a prominent engineer and farmer. His wife, Catherine Peter Evans, was a granddaughter of Dr. Robert Peter, a nineteenth-century Lexington physician, scientist, and professor in the Medical Department of Transylvania and in the Louisville Medical School. Dr. Peter married Frances Dallam in 1835; among their children were Robert Jr., Benjamin Dudley, Frances Dallam and Johanna.
