Hartshorne, William M., ca. 1748-1833.
William Hartshorne, Quaker diarist, was born circa 1748. The son of Robert and Sarah Hartshorne, he was a member of Shrewsbury and, later, New York Monthly Meetings. In 1793 he attended an Indian treaty conference in Sandusky, Ohio. In 1797, he married Sarah Lawrence. A staunch conservative Quaker in his later years, he died in 1833, a member of New York Monthly Meeting (Orthodox).
