Oak, John M.
John Marshall Oak, the son of Lyndon Oak, was born in Garland, Maine, June 16, 1851. He graduated from the Maine State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1873. After graduation he taught school, worked as a salesman, and owned a clothing business before becoming postmaster in Bangor, Maine, in 1898, a position he held until 1915. He served as a trustee of the University of Maine and was active in its alumni association. John Oak died Sept. 15, 1932.
