Hewett, William Nathan Wrighte, Sir, 1834-1888
Variant namesWilliam Nathan Wrighte Hewett was a British naval officer. He received the Victoria Cross for gallant conduct during the Crimean War. Hewett became a commander in 1858 and served all over the world and on various ships, including the HMS Rinaldo in North America and the West Indies, eventually becoming commander-in-cheif of the East Indies and reaching the rank of Vice-Admiral before his death in 1888.
