F. Taylor Ostrander was born in 1919 and graduated from Williams College in 1932. He did graduate work in economics from 1933 to 1934. He was an economist for the U.S. Government fron 1935 to 1953. He then worked for American Metal Climax, Inc. from 1954 to 1983. He was the Assistant to the Chairman of the company as an expert on Africa. He also worked with Sir Ronald Prain and Harold K. Hochschild. Ostrander spent about fifteen years in work connected with Africa's economic development
