Rusanov was a Socialist Revolutionary and a member of the Russian delegation to the international peace conference of socialists scheduled for Stockholm in 1917. Rusanov was also the author of several published works, including "Zhizn ́i Smert ́Petra Lavrovicha Lavrova (Geneva, 1900); Mirovoĭ rost i krizis sot︠s︡i︠a︡lizma" (Moscow, 1906); "Iz moikh vospominaniĭ" (Berlin, 1923) and "Na rodine, 1859-1882" (Moscow, 1931). At the turn of the century Rusanov was co-publisher of the Socialist Revolutionary journal "Vestnik Russkoĭ Revoli︠u︡t︠s︡ii."
