Claud McMillan was born in Wyoming, Iowa in 1876. He graduated from Epworth Seminary in 1901 and held pastorates in Knierim, Gowrie, Wall Lake, Anthon and Charter Oak, Iowa from 1903 to 1914. From 1914 to 1928 he devoted himself to temperance and prohibition activities, serving as the superintendent of the Woodbury County Anti-saloon League (1914-1922), a general prohibition agent (1922-1924), and the state secretary of the Iowa Anti-Saloon League (1924-1928). The Anti-saloon League of America (founded in Ohio in 1893) based its membership largely on church affiliations with evangelical Protestant denominations. In 1928 McMillan returned to the ministry but remained active in the Anti-saloon League. He served pastorates in Pocahontas, Paullina, Britt, and Pronghorn, Iowa until his retirement in 1945. In 1956 he published a McMillan family history, A History of My People and Yours. He died in 1960 in Long Beach, California.
