The Society of the Friends of the Fogg Museum of Art was started in June 1913. In 1937, the Friends of the Music Department joined it and it became known as the Friends of Art, Archaeology, and Music at Harvard. However, since the archaeology addition did not materialize, the name was changed to Friends of Art and Music. A few years later, the two separated and became the Friends of the Fogg Museum of Art and the Friends of Music at Harvard University.
