John B. Corliss was born in Richford, Vt., Jun. 7, 1851 ; graduated from Vermont Methodist University, 1871, and Department of Law, Columbian College, 1875 ; Admitted to the Michigan bar in 1875, and established his practice in Detroit ; was city attorney, 1882-1886 ; prepared the 1884 charter ; was a member of Congress, 1895-1903 ; resumed practice in Detroit, where he died, Dec. 24, 1929.
