This collection spans the Office of Graduate Studies from 1970 until 1991. During this time the Office changed names and directors numerous times. In the 1970-71 school year the Office was under the Vice President for Academic Affairs and was coordinated by Leslie L. Ellis, who held the title of the Director of Research and Graduate Studies. In 1971 his title was changed to the Dean of Research and Graduate studies, and again in 1974 to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Research and Graduate Studies.
In 1979 Ellis left the position and it was held as an acting position by Frank E. Juge until 1981. In the 1981-1982 school year the position was held by Bernard Ostle. The Office changed titles and directors in 1982. The Office became the Office of the Vice President of Research and Dean of Graduate Studies, where it remained until the 1987-88 school year, where it again became an entity of the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Under both of these titles, the Office was directed by Louis M. Trefonas. Also, during this time Florida Technological University became the University of Central Florida in 1979.
