Benjamin Franklin Robertson, Jr., born June 22, 1903 in the Calhoun Community of Clemson, South Carolina; 1924 graduated Clemson Agricultural College; 1926 degree in journalism, University of Missouri and reporter for Honolulu Star-Bulletin in Hawaii; 1927 on staff of The News; Adelaide, Australia; 1929-1934 New York Herald Tribune and AP; 1935 United Press, Anderson Independent (SC); 1937 returned to associated press; 1938 published Traveler's Rest; 1940 War correspondent in England for PM; 1941 I saw England; 1942 Red Hills and Cotton and correspondent for PM and The Chicago Sun in Guam, Midway, India, Russia, and Egypt. Also rejoined staff of New York Herald Tribune, December 1942; February 22, 1943 killed in crash of the Yankee Clipper en route to London to head the British office of the NYHT.
