The Plymouth Railroad Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania on April 18, 1836. Between 1837 and 1840, it constructed a short railroad from lime kilns near Plymouth Meeting to Conshohocken, Pa. It came under the control of the Philadelphia, Germantown and Norristown Railroad, with which it connected at Conshohocken, and in 1868 it was rebuilt and extended from Plymouth Meeting to Oreland. It was leased to the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad Company on December 1, 1870.
