Economist. Leigh Tesfatsion received her B.A. (1968) in History from Carleton College and her Ph. D (1975) in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Minnesota. She was employed as an Assistant Professor (1975-1981), Associate Professor (1981-1989), and Professor (1989-1990) of Economics at the University of Southern California. She is currently a Professor (1990- ) of Economics and Mathematics at Iowa State University.

Tesfatsion's fields of research specialization include macroeconomics, mathematical economics, applied mathematics, and econometrics. She has published numerous papers and is a member of the Econometric Society, the American Economic Association, and has served as a Board member on the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession.
