From 1957 to 1964, Associate Professor of History, Regina campus, University of Saskatchewan. University of Alberta Dept. of History, 1964, Professor of History in 1965, Departmental Chairman, 1965-1968. Dr. Thomas edited Saskatchewan history, 1949-1957, and served on the National Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, 1968-1976.
