Kemp, James, 1798-1872.
James Kemp, a smith by trade, was selected by the Church Missionary Society to go to New Zealand with the Rev. J.G. Butler, 1819. He was stationed in Kerikeri, where he helped to build the school and remained as storekeeper and smith. He also taught in the school.
