In 1968, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs at Penn State reorganized and the Office of Greek Life was created as one of four areas. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council (PHC) already existed within the Office of Student Activities, while the Office of Greek Life gave fraternities and sororities a closer relationship with the Penn State Office of Student Affairs. The IFC-PHC office worked in conjunction with the Office of Greek Life to oversee five key annual events: Greek Sing, the Greek Leadership Conference, Homecoming, the Panhellenic Dance Marathon, and Spring Week. Due to frequently overlapping concerns, the Office of Greek Life merged briefly with the Office of Off-Campus Living to form the Office of Greek and Community Life in 1996; de-coupled in 2001, it was renamed the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
