Heinsohn, Edmund.
Edmund Heinsohn was born in Fayetteville, Texas on July 17, 1888. He graduated from the University of Texas with A.B. and LL. B. degrees in 1911 and 1912. He practiced for eleven years before entering the Methodist ministry in 1923, and was assigned to the University Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, in 1934, where he remained for twenty-five years. He served as a trustee for Southwestern University and chairman of the board of trustees at Huston-Tillotson College, both of which awarded him honorary doctorates, and was twice chairman of the Texas State Library and Historical Commission. Dr. Heinsohn was deeply involved with the pacifist and desegregationist movements in the Methodist Church and remained an active speaker, preacher and writer after his retirement from the ministry. He died on August 12, 1989, and is buried at Austin Memorial Park.
