Forbus, Ina B. (Ina Bell), -1994
Variant namesIna B. Forbus was born in Scotland and moved to the United States when she was a child. She became a citizen upon her marriage to Sample Forbus in 1931. Forbus attended the University of Rochester and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1935 she and her husband bought an old grist mill on Cane Creek and converted it into a summer home. Mrs. Forbus often used the grist mill as a setting for her stories.

Her books include The Magin Pin (1956), The Secret Circle (1958), Dogs Are My Patients (with Louis L. Vine, 1961), Melissa (1962), and Tawney's Trick (1965). Forbus also wrote numerous short stories and poems, many of which were inspired by the rural North Carolina farm she shared with her husband, diplomat and hospital administrator Sample B. Forbus.
