Ellis, Theophilus Tighe, 1782-1834.
Retired Captain of 14th Regiment. Arrived in W.A. in 1830 and selected land in the Avon district. Appointed Resident Magistrate at Kelmscott. Offered to form a Volunteer Cavalry Guard to protect the settlers from Aborigines in December 1831. Appointed Superintendent of Native Tribes in 1833. Died from wounds received at the Battle of Pinjarra in 1834.
