Nestor, Bishop of the Aleutian Islands and Alaska, 1825-1882.
Bishop Nestor was born Baron Nicholas Zakkis in a family of Russian gentry and was a naval officer before becoming a priest and bishop. He was Bishop of Alaska, 1879-1882, and developed many contacts for the Church in the U.S. He drowned at sea during a pastoral journey.
