The Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1886 and was originally known as the Immanuel German Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession. It is the oldest Lutheran church in Braddock and at one time was one of five Lutheran churches in the area. The need for a German Lutheran church reflects the number of new immigrants to Braddock of German descent. Thus, for many years services were held in German and it was not until 1963 that services were spoken completely in English.
