The Fargo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) was formed on January 27, 1922. It was the third branch of the AAUW to form in North Dakota. The bylaws were adopted March 25 and recognition was received by the AAUW after April 1, 1922. The original purpose, as stated in the constitution, was to be "the uniting of college alumnae for the purpose of carrying on work suggested by the American Association of University Women, and such local work as is deemed desirable."
