McLane, Merrill F.

Merrill F. McLane spent the summer of 1941 climbing in the Grand Tetons with Jack Durrance and Henry Coulter. In October of 1941 they rescued a stranded parachutist from Devil's Tower, Wyoming. McLane, Durrance, and Coulter returned every summer from 1942-1946 to Grand Teton National Park to climb in the Teton Range.

Merrill F. McLane (1917-2008) began mountain climbing in the Teton Range in Wyoming in 1941. He was a member of the Dartmouth College Mountaineering Club (DMC). He often climbed with Jack Durrance and Henry Coulter, and in 1941 he joined them in an effort to rescue a stranded parachutist on Devils Tower.
