Nichols, Leland L., 1929-

Leland L. Nichols attended the Hollywood Professional School and the University of California at Los Angeles. After service in the U.S. Army, he began a career in broadcasting as a reporter for NBC News. In 1960, he was appointed Radio-Television Press Secretary for Governor Edmund G. Brown, Sr. In 1962, he joined the staff of the California State Assembly as Chief Consultant to the Assembly Ways and Means Committee and then, Chief Consultant to the Assembly, during which time he helped devise and institutionalize the staff system. Since 1970 he has served on the faculty of the Communications Department at California State University, Sacramento.
