Biographical/Historical Sketch

Robert MacKinnon received his a.b. in music from the University of Kansas and his a.m. from Yale. He first came to Stanford in 1961 as a lecturer in voice. In 1963 he was appointed director of the Glee Club, which he held until his retirement in 1982. Under his direction the glee club grew from seven voices to 60 voices accompanied by a 2l-piece orchestra. He was also a composer and arranger.
