Dale Dom was born on June 13, 1919 in Sacramento, Calif. and volunteered for the ski troops and enlisted on August 31, 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts, Calif. and was assigned to Company L of the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment at Camp Hale, Colo. Dom was sent on special assignment to Camp Gogebic, Mich. where he assisted in training members of the 82hd Division in winter survival techniques. He participated in the invasion of Kiska Island on August 15, 1943. He was later sent o Fort Benning, Ga. for officer training.
