Hide Profile

The Friends Charitable Fuel Association was organized in 1835 by "The Association of Friends for the Relief of the Suffering Poor." Its purpose was to partially or completely pay winter fuel costs for low-income families. Incorporated in 1869, name changed to Friends Charity Fuel Association (FCFA). For 150 years FCFA provided coal and oil, and later gas, to families in the Philadelphia area, until it merged with the Fiduciary Corporation of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1982.
