Wildy, Ruth.
Hesperia was an honorary society for junior year women at the University of Colorado, Boulder. It was founded in 1912 "to promote a democratic spirit among the junior girls and to promote school activities," according to William E. Davis in his history of the university (Glory Colorado!, 1965, p. 181 and 312). He quotes from the 1921 Silver and Gold: "'The Hesperians are difficult to discuss. Their actions are varied and their ways are dark...they are jolly good girls...'"
